Altamana Single Vineyard Malbec
Varietal: Malbec
Region: D. O. Maule
Country: Chile
Vintage: 2012
Alcohol: 14.5%
Bottle size: 750 mL
Eyes: Deep purple almost black color with glittering highlights.
Nose: The stylish and complex nose offers a wide array of aromas including blackcurrant and dark cherry mingling with subtle notes of spices.
Mouth: The palate immediately shows all the wine's density and refinement: very forward ripe fruit flavours with perfectly integrated, velvety tannins revealing a remarkable complexity in the structure and excellent balance. The finish is opulent and extremely long.
Body: full
Recommended food pairings: Roasted chicken, beef, buffalo with thyme, rosemary, marjoram, sage or pepper.
Winemaker: Didier Debono
Growing conditions: The area of the Constanza vineyard is known for having an ideal temperature contrast between day and night. The vines, covering a 5-acre area, were planted in 1923 and are dry farmed. The small natural production of these old vines (less than 30hl per ha) in this ideal climatic environment encourages the grapes to be naturally concentrated and balanced.
Winemaking notes: Primary fermentation took place over 28 days. Malolactic fermentation occurred in new French oak barrels for 15 months.
