Varieties: Malbec (96%), Cabernet Franc (6%)
Region: Liguai Estate, Maipo-Andes
Bottle size: 750 mL
Once integral to pre-phylloxera Bordeaux, and firmly rooted in Cahors, “Cot” is the old French name for Malbec. While the variety has found a happy home in Argentina, the Limited Edition shows a vibrancy rarely achieved in Chile. The wine combines the specific notes of the variety and the unmistakable character typical of the Maipo Alto wines. It is a potent wine, well structured and creamy, which at the same time offers a delicate, attractive freshness.
Nose: Very perfumed on the nose, with notes of fresh cassis, raspberry, lemongrass and eucalyptus, with a special hint of flowers.
Mouth: The palate is savoury, with red cherry and shiitake mushrooms, supported on chalky tannins with good grip.
Winemaker: German Lyon
Growing conditions: The Liguai estate, exclusive source of Pérez Cruz wines and home to the famous Chilean winery, is located in the Maipo Valley’s “Maipo-Andes” subregion. The rocky soils and temperate microclimate create exceptional growing conditions. The cooling influence of the Andes mountain air as well as the Pacific Ocean breezes allow for slow ripening conditions that lead to fresh, vibrant fruit that marries local aromatic herbs, mouthwatering natural acidity and polished tannins.
